Just 4 years ago Neil was weighing 95kg and the word fitness was not part of his vocabulary. He could not run 1km without running out of breath and struggled with a 10kg dumbbell.
That’s when he saw an advert for an OCR race. He relished the challenge and he decided that he wanted to change. Neil started running in order to lose weight. Moreover being a chef by profession helped Neil switch to a healthy nutrition. He ran his first half marathon 4 years ago. Then he started CrossFit to improve strength too. Combining both strength and running, Neil then did his first Spartan Race in January 2016 in London and was hooked ever since! To date he completed multiple Spartan races, also clocking the fastest time ever at Spartan Race (Sprint) Barcelona. Neil is currently they only Maltese athlete to finish a Spartan Race Ultra (54km - age group) in Andorra which is considered to be the toughest Spartan Race in Europe.
This year Neil is celebrating his 40th birthday. His idea to celebrate this is by competing in 40 races & competitions ranging from crossfit, Tribal Clash and half marathons to trail runs, triathlons and Spartan Races! Being very competitive by nature Neil believe’s that his main competitor is always himself. Thats why he strives to push harder every harder every race to always improve. To stay hungry one has to constantly challenge himself!
